Pocketbookcafe

About

Pocketbookcafe was crafted to provide a welcoming space that encouraged not only stories, but the magic they provided. It is a place of community that inspires others to pour the enchantment and good feeling they read in their novels, back into their own day to day moments.

Why Pocketbookcafe?

In the mid 1900’s, small paperbacks became a common reading instrument. It was affordable and essentially compact: a pocketbook. Now, it is easy to transport a novel on a phone or tablet , but there is something beautiful about carrying the concrete form of a story everywhere you go. When traveling I found it very comforting to hold onto the enchanting narratives no matter how far I was from home.

The concept of a pocketbook doesn’t have to only be something physical. We have the ability to bring the stories we read everywhere we go. The values and bravery we learn from characters and the charm we find in their adventures, is not bound to the pages, but in our hearts. Just know magic still subsists in reality even though it may be dressed differently.

Meet the creator

Angela Marie

I cannot remember a time when books were not a part of my life. When I was little, my mother did not have enough money for us to do extravagant hobbies or activities, but something that we could always afford , was the library. Honestly, the aging bookshelves that filled the rooms were priceless to me. It spun a world wind desire that inspired me to seek out life and boldly embrace my own adventure.

After graduating and saving some money, I taught abroad and began traveling the world. I was able to experience the places I always wanted to see; with a book in hand , of course, hopping from cafe to cafe. Documenting these moments, Pocketbookcafe was born.

I was so blessed to have these treasured moments. It made me see life in a whole new perspective and see the exquisite nature in every occasion. I truly hope for others to seek out their own journey and build a community that celebrates their stories in and outside of the pages.
